Hey forum.

recently discovered a failure in my power steering pump on bravo 2.0 20v hgt.
i have a pump from a 1.6 marea elx. my question is: does anyone know or can aproove if i can use the pump from 1.6 on the hgt ? or will i need another pump ?

thanks for response :)

Leaking fluid?
Bearings failed?
I remember reading somewhere that they are same as front wheelbearings on base model uno.

If you can change the pulley and mange to mount it, why not.
I think the 1.6 run on higher pressure since they are lot lighter to turn even when stationary.
My guess is that one from 1.8 would fit without too many problems as the base engine is same and mounting position is same.
1.6 is based on older SOHC design.

The bearings are very noisy, is it possible to replace the bearing ?

My sources point yes, and the bearing is same as front bearing on uno 60. Atleast the measurements are the same for bearings.
Haven't done this myself, but my front end my 20v weekend has something resonating and making noise, should look into it someday.

Changed the bearing today, the uno wheelbearing fits there.

Are you prepared?

Loosen the belts, put a 1/4" extension to the slot on the pulley.
Use 24mm socket on the pulley, I used 3/4" set for leverage.
This is what you get.
Use 90 degree bend pliers, I needed to hammer it as the bottom of the ring was stuck.
Start taking it apart. (note: the bearing should not break like that...)
It should come apart easily.
Mine did not.
Used some socket from the 3/4", a 10mm steel plate and M16 treadbar to initially pull it a little.
Then used a 76mm (I think, it was from scrap pile) pipe to fully extract it.
Sanded the housing and ring groove a little with fine paper.

The wheelbearing is little different. I dont think it really matters which way you put it, but I put the rounded edge towards pulley.

Greased it and started pulling the new bearing in with the same steel plate, hammered it to get it start straight.
Bottomed it with 10mm thick washer that was 1mm smaller in diameter than the bearing itself (spares from a harrow).
Hammer the ring back into place.

Put it all back together.
Needed to remove the suction pipe so topped the fluid.

The source I referred earlier said his bearings came out with almost no force (coupe/HGT).

Very nice :) thanks, havetaken everything apart... I’m currently waiting for the bearing to arrive. Theold one was all rusty and shattered. There was nothing wrong with the pumpitself. Thanks for your guidance :)
