Hi, I posted a couple of days back about my uno which was written off. I am pretty much always on the look out for a decent ut, and came across this on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIAT-UNO-TURB...2QQihZ017QQcategoryZ10382QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Now, this sounds too good to be true. 9000 miles?... the body work looks as if the car has been written off, although.. the seller has a believable story. But the body of the car still looks a bit sketchy. One of the doors has extra trim on, and looks as if its from another uno.

What do you guys think? Is it worth my hard earned cash?

Nice restoration project there - won't take much to have it looking tidy... the sort of thing I'd undertake myself... if the price is right (less than 500 pounds), I'd say go-for-it!

I wouldn't get too hung up about the mileage - if you are able to drive the car first, that will tell you all you need to know. Should feel fairly stiff and the gearbox should select all gears with equal ease, etc. Watch for smoke with the engine idling after a run.

Its got a mk1 door and trim. The Mk2 trim does not fit easily. engine bay looks very low mileage.

Best advice I can offer is to go and see the car and treat with caution. If the car has only done 9000 miles then it would be mint inside and show no significant signs of wear and tear, the engine bay and general components such as suspension arms, shocks should be be in excellent clean condition, but it isn't difficult with a pressure washer, and chemicals to make things look pretty new. It doesn't look dissimiliar to my old Turbo in the bay and that had over 100k on the clock. The firewall covering looks in excellent condition and I note the pipe near the brake reservoir for injector cooling is still there unless it's been replaced of course.

As for the panels I guess if the car had been sitting around outside for years then the wings and door could have rotted out. Check under the car, front and rear arches for serious corrosion. If it sat around on grass then there could be problems.

The bloke says he may MOT, well get him to. All in all it could be a great find or it could be dog which has suffered through sitting around and not being driven for years.

Enigne bay does look pretty clean, if the cars only done 9000 miles then expect every nut and bolt to be sezied solid, old mot's should back up the mileage, unless it hasnt got any, then i wouldnt believe it and if they claim the cars been sorn for so long then the tax discs would back this up.

As for the door could of been replaced because it was involved in a bump, although anyone who knows uno's will know how they rot.

If it was won as some kind of prize then i would of thought it might have some proof about this.

Check comes up with its only had one prev owner so you never know.

For the right price could be a bargin.

I asked the fella, said it's had one owner, he was 60 when I bought the car and only occasionally used it. Pretty sure that's what he said.

Yeah you'll need to replace the door, again, but even I was thinking if I had a spare bit of spruce I'd buy that. Must be dead quiet for an Uno T, being the Mk2 and an unused one at that.

I'd restore it, possibly lower it shocks & springs but that's it. Wouldn't go any further. It's not as sacreligious as modding a mint Mk1 but even so... getting rare.

Ummm... it's a Mk2 door, at least on the inside, you can spot from where the door release handle is. Not that it matters as it will need replacing anyway!

The engine bay does look clean... but that plastic panel under the windscreen has been sprayed white? or did they come that way?

I noticed that, it has been sprayed as they are definately unpainted black as standard and look better for it. Why would someone do that, especially someone who didn't care about the car....?

when you bought a UT new you had the option of colour coded parts when i bought mine ut's both of them had coded mirrors boot and scuttle plinth, and in my opinion they look far better painted REGURG!!
