Pollen filter or no pollen filter

I have a T reg Brava, it is the 16v SX model. I was looking in the handbook about pollen filters and decided to have a look at mine. The pollen filter cover is there, but when I removed the cover there was nothing behind it.......am I supposed to have one or not?????
