ok, just posting this thread for up to date info on weather

i get updates from a service thats very accurate, and my uncle works as gritter manager for tayside contracts, so i'll be pestering him for updates too

the news? not promising.

latest, tayside area has been told to expect- Friday 2 inches of snow from tea time onwards, saturday a further 2-3 inches of snow.

remember folks, if you are driving in snow, drive suitable to conditions.

it seems so! lol, btw, thread is set as an "event" deliberately so i can update the "event" with the news when i get it and its there at the top of the thread for everyone to see rather than having to read all posts :)

I dont mind driving in any weather but when my car is 1 1/2" off the floor its hard to plow the road for a long time :p . might weld some shovels on the front

I thought that's what the splitter was for Steve (LOL)
Aach what's a bit of Snow, drove to work last winter 1 day and the roads hadn't been cleard, so just sat behind an HGV doing 45MPH.
Best Snowplough ever HGV's

As far as the A90/M9 are concerned, they're main routes in an out of Perth. They should be passable, allbeit with some care.

I'm going to have the Vec, a tow rope, jump leads and as many tools as I can find with me, just in case.

Obviously, everyone attending has to make the decision themselves, but hoping there's a let up in the weather!

I could be slightly later getting away tomorrow IF the guy that starts at 6pm get's stuck in Aberdeen. Not thinking about any of the above problems though, it's all going to be fine...it's ALL going to be fine...

My problem is that the back road to Aberchirder is not a priority and the square seems to be even worse when it snows, I could take the folks grand vitara down to Perth but for me that's defeating the purpose! Not too bothered over the EGR valve so only thing stopping me will be the weather! :s

Well got another 2 updates so far, first one was far more promising, second most recent one was far more concerning, the info at the top is still accurate........ Unfortunately

ok guys, this is getting very, very close now and the weather reports are not exactly filling me with confidence

Perth itself looks like it may be hit by 5-6 inches over tonight and tomorrow, more expected on staurday on top of that. i'm taking that as a worst case scenario, but it's always best to plan for the worst incase it actually happens.

First of all, i am monitoring the situation very closely (almost obsessively). the hotel is just off main roads, so perth itself even if it gets hit as bad as predictions should be passable with obvious common sense and caution.

HOWEVER- perth is not the main concern, it's you guys traveling to get to perth that is the worry. not all of you will be able to stick to main roads. basicly, it is safety first. if the weather seems dodgy, please don't risk it. at the end of the day as good a meet as we hope it will be, it's not worth risking damage for. at this time the meet is going ahead exactly as planned however there may need to be last minute changes due to conditions. obviously we will do our best to update you as quickly as possible.

hopefully we are worried about nothing and it doesnt materialise or cause any more issues than it is already doing.

if you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me or another member of site staff. same goes for if you need contact numbers for the meet etc :)

Steve M.
No snow here in Symington, which is a good thing as the Sei's up on an Axle stand with the O/S Reararm off, as need to change the bushes, just bloody freeeeezzzzziiiinnnnn.

Steve B.
I have only once this week seen a gritter in the village, but they don't bloody come down our road (wee cul-de-sac of just 10houses)

Mark.
You have got a point, it is NOT worht trying to get out to Perth if the weather is 5H1T3, could be interesting for me with dodgy tyres (don't ask), so going up to Craig's (Johno933) work to get some new rubber, on my way up to Perth.

It's not so much a case of if the weathers shite. It's down to driver ability & confidence.

What we're saying is if folk aren't comfortable driving in these conditions, that's understandable. So far, there's nothing on the roads to present a problem. And hopefully it's going to pan out that way.

While I remember, I'll be on the mobile / laptop most of the weekend, so if anyone wants a mobile number or MSN address give me a shout.

Martyn has it spot on, its not about if the weather is crap, it's being confident in driving in it. and even if you are confident, if you have poor tyres ffs don't take risks.

basicly, stay safe. use your own judgement and common sense :)

That's Andi ****ed.

But in saying that tho, most tyres don't operate one under certain temps anyway, really just down to the driver.
