My car has gone into limp mode. Diagnostics says low particulate fluid and blocked particulate filter. Can someone help with these questions:

1. Where is the fluid tank?
2. How much does it hold. If system says low fluid, does that mean it needs completely refilling. The fluid comes in 1 litres (£33) or 4.5 litres (£130). So, will I need the full 4.5 litres?
3. Do I need a refilling kit as well?
4. After filling, can the particulate filter be regenerated, or will that need replacing as well?

FYI Diagnostics showed:
P1429 Particle Filter Pressure Difference signal
P1447 Particle Filer
p1435 Diesel Additive System

The fluid tank is underneath the diesel fuel tank. If you search through the PeugeotCentral forum site you will find various ways of overcoming the blocked DPF filter problem.

One approach is to remove and clean the DPF using a high pressure water pump (the type used to clean a patio) and refill the fluid tank with Eloys. This also requires access to a Peugeot Planet 2000 diagnostic system to clear diagnostic faults and reset the fluid level parameters.

Another technique is to remove the DPF and drill some large holes through its ceramic honeycomb, which will remove the blockage/pressure differential more or less permanently. In this case the computer system will still require the fluid tank to be replenished, but this can be filled with cheap 2Stroke oil. The fault codes, etc., will need to be reset as above.

Some Eurovan 2 cars, such as my own 2003 Ulysse 2, were never fitted with the DPF system. It is possible to remove the DPF completely from the exhaust system and have the BSI/ECU software 'flashed' so that the system believes it is a 'NO FAP' vehicle, i.e. like my car.

Hope this explanation helps.
