Hi,

I'm new here, just bought my first Fiat, an Ulysse. A 1996 2.0 Turbo. I previously owned a few Chryslers (Neon). I've bought this car with 4 friends. We are participating in the carbage run. The idea is to buy a vehicle prior to 1998 and with a max value of around 500 euro. This year the route will be:
Netherlands -> Germany -> Poland -> Ukraine (if the **** going on now doesn't get worse) -> Czech Republic -> Germany -> Netherlands. With a total distance of about 4,000 KM.

We had a choice between a Fiat Ulysse, Renault Espace and Chrysler Voyager. We picked the fiat over it's comfort, performance, and the ability to move chairs around.

It has a few issues and things I have to do, but overall it's a nice car:
  • Sunroof doesn't close. (Not going to fix)
  • Rear cigarette lighter doesn't work.
  • Heater / blower buttons broken.
  • Key doesn't work on the door locks. Ordered new locks from ebay.
  • FOB only locks the car, doesn't unlock. Ordered an aftermarket RKE system.
  • Place interior filter. None present at the time.
  • Replace oil filter and oil.
  • Head lining (if that is what it's called) is damaged and getting lose. Going to try to fix that with some new cloth, and glue spray.

We still have to "tune" / mod the car on the outside, since the car has to look funny / weird. Some ideas we currently have:

  • Wrap the car with gold vinyl using Goldmember (Austin Powers) or Goldfinger (James Bond) as team name.
  • Wrap the car with white (matte) vinyl, and sell squares to friends, to put a message or drawing in.

If someone has a good idea for modding, feel free to post it here. It has to be removable though, since we plan on selling the car afterwards.

That's all folks, thanks for reading :)

PS, I'll try to keep this topic updated, with pictures of the tuning, and hopefully during the run.

First update. This weekend we've removed the head lining. And removed the foamy stuff. It has become pretty soft and sticky after 14 years, and it was a lot of work to remove.

We tried to glue the new fabric (from ikea) on the board, but the glue spray we bought wasn't that good, so I did everything again yesterday with double sided tape.

Second update: I've tried to connect the new Remote Keyless Entry to the existing central locking module, but I couldn't figure out the wiring. I would appreciate if someone has some advice on that. It's a grey box, located under the glovebox with a 9 pin connector.

But I can't find anything about this module. My service manual only has a diagram of a central locking module with 2 connectors. Again, any info on how this is wired would be much appreciated.

Another update:
I've managed to fix connect the new RKE module. Only problem was the sunroof, when locking the doors the damned thing opened (wouldn't be a problem if it closed properly). So I disconnected the sunroof module thingy to prevent it from every doing anything again.
