After a long wait (ordered on the 1st of January) my delivery from Demontweeks has arrived!

Apparently due Bilstein relocating their factory in Germany? None the less, my set of Eibach Pro's and Bilstein B4's are here :)

I must add - their customer service is 1st rate and they kept me in the loop all the way.

B4's you ask? After some hefty research I decided these were the ones for me. Based on OEM construction and specification but come up slightly firmer, slightly more suited for lowering springs and of course they should be superior quality. Demontweeks had them on special offer, 66% off. So I thought why not? They have loads of positive feedback from the BMW community vs B6 and apparently offer a better overall drive.

Combined with the Eibach Pro-Kit, designed as a "progressive" kit (basically, the harder they are pushed, the stiffer they get. Rather than cheaper Apex springs which can be crashy at lower speeds) I'm hoping that combined with the B4's I can achieve a smooth OEM ride that handles really well when pushed a little harder. Plus the 30mm drop will add to the image.

I do need some help though. In the past on my Astra I used a Haynes manual to fit some GSi shocks and springs, giving me the correct torque figures to tighten bolts etc etc. As there is no such thing for the Bravo how will I figure the correct torque settings for the shocks, hubs and so on?

Lastly, the "Sportline" kit is advertised as red springs, and the "Pro-Kit" is advertised as Black - I was hoping this would add to my OEM image. But they have turned up red - could they be incorrect? I've Googled it and some of the Alfa community were panicking as they thought they had 50mm sportline springs but in the case of the Alfa's the colours are opposite? If anyone can clear up for me if I have the right springs I would really appreciate it.

I hope all of that made sense! ^^

Thanks :D

Should look good. What's wrong with setting the springs up as a direct replacement to the current OEM springs may I ask? As I want to put mine on Eibach pro also for a bit of a drop in the arch gap. And a better handling ride but I wasn't planningn on changing anything else. Would that be fine?

Also in regards to the colour it all comes in the right box's but I would email the senders before you put them on. I googled that part number I see on the spring but the only part number I could find was for the t-jet versions of these pro springs. Of that's what you ordered it looks like the numbers don't match. Doesn't mean they arnt the right ones however. Just saying what I've found.

No no I fully appreciate what you say. I will definitely ring Eibach before fitting as I really don't want a 50mm drop as the Sportlines advertise! I was just hoping someone could come up with some info so I could avoid ringing them up :p

Honestly, I would say there is nothing wrong with setting these up with OEM shocks. It's just a set of B4's are better, higher quality and should offer a better overall drive. They were 66% off on a January sale on Demontweeks so it seemed the right thing to do :)

If you do want to lower the car - do get the Pro-Kit. As I said in my original post these offer both a good ride and good in the bends. A cheaper option such as Apex etc you may find are hard at all speeds :)

What wheels do you have?

I currently have 16" steels. But I have Team Dynamics "Savage" 18's lined up. They are 4x98 but the offset (ET30) is apparently wrong and the steering rack is different on sports models with 18s.

I will have to see if they work when I fit them :p

Attached some photos which might be useful :)

its maths time:

the increase in width from 7 1/2" to 8" equalls 12.7mm
divide this by 2 gives 6.35mm

difference in offset from ET38 to ET30
means wheel rim 8mm further out from the hub

means that the inside edge of the tyre will be in approximately the same place as a standard Bravo 18" wheel (which has steering rack limit)

conclusion:

depending on the inner shape of the rim and the profile of the tyre you may get slight interference on full lock

only one way to find out!
