Hi everyone, well it looks like my cinq gearbox has joined the rest of the cinq gearboxes! While travelling around 70-80 it made a lovely clunking sound so pulled onto the hard shoulder.I thuoght it could be the clutch so eventualy removed the gearbox to find clutch is fine but when i removed the nose cone i found pieces of metal and when in nuetral the shaft will not rotate. So i guess its deceaced, i hear these boxes do have probs on early models, mine is a 94, 850 engine. Does anyone know my best bet to resolf this as dont want to fit another early box to find the prob happening again. Is it poss to fit another box from a later car, i have seen some but the drive shaft input on the box looks different. Any ideas or have you one for sale, any help would be great. Cheers.

No such thing as a 850 cinq unless you meen a 899, when was the last time you checked the gearbox oil level and are the inner cv boots leaking as its a wet joint box.
just drop another 899 gearbox in that hasnt been run with no oil

Yeah, strength isn't really an issue with the wet shaft boxes, oil retention is! They'll stand the torque of the 1108 engine, so an 899 isn't going to overstress it.
If 899, no other box will fit.
