panda spi car been stood for years , no fuel at injector ? any ideas please . thanks

No fuel to the injector or no fuel coming out? No fuel to is most likely to be the pump, you should be able to hear it humming as it primes when you first turn the key, at least you know it's trying then. No fuel coming out, first check connections. Most likely to stop it fuelling at all would be crank sensor, or the plug on the injector itself, just unplug and reseat a couple of times to get some kind of contact back ( I would start with the crank sensor)

Oh and of course, check there's some fuel in;) Don't want to miss the obvious.

You've been told wrong, there is no dizzy on a 1995 SPI setup.

Does the pump price when you turn the ignition on before starting?

If so then you should be getting fuel and my money would potentially be on the crank position sensor.

There is a dizzy on the early Bosch set ups, don't know what year we're dealing with here. Not familiar with that setup, I've only dealt with carb or twin coil Marelli injection.

I meant we don't know what year the OPs car is

I'm off to bed, not sure where I saw 1995 :bang:

This is worse than speed reading :p

OP please ignore my previous post, as I'm probably wrong and you probably have got a dizzy if this is what you've been told.

However I'm not sure if there is still a crank possition sensor or not, as I think the dizzy just controls the spark side of things, and not the fuel, although I could be wrong.
Dragon Man wasn't it a Bosch system you fitted to Talon - is there a CPS in this setup?

sorry all i think its a 1992-3 panda , trust me to get the cross over oddity of the fiat world . theres no rust on body a bit on door bottoms and one spot underneath so worth saving if i can . a stable mate for my landrover and scim , if thats ok to say ?

hey there, ahh so you have an injected panda, but it still uses the distributor?

yes i know that system quite well.

however you say that it has a crank position sensor?? the bosch system does not use one.
you may be getting mixed up with the oil pressure sensor maybe?

that a side, try checking for a spark.. i bet it does not have one ;)

this system relies on the ignition module to inject the fuel.. it uses that as its crank position sensor.

if you have no spark, replace the ignition module, the whole thing will come alive again :D

you can find them on ebay. the fiat uno uses the same thing.

ohhh they have came down in price a bit.. when i was looking to restock, they were around £25!

thanks for all replys will check for sparks , it did have them because it tried to fire up with spilt petrol when looking at injector etc . will check on wed weather permitting , cheers all .

I had a similar problem with a '95 Tipo 1.4 - same basic sort of SPI I think (i.e. carb replacement).

Intermittent starting / running was traced by decent AA man to be due to a dodgy water temp sensor / wiring... for some reason this could inhibit the injection of fuel. I got a new sensor (in the inlet manifold) and redid the wiring, it's been fine since.

thanks all for hints and tips , pulled plug lead off to check for sparks and she fired up on three cylinders replaced lead and ran ok but rough so , need to re teach ecu as the manual says . so hopefully all is well . next task check over and try an mot to see what sort of list comes up , wont be just yet but will keep you all posted . cheers again all !

hi all , went to start panda up to re set ecu and ...... it wouldnt start , no fuel at injector , good spark . so put power to fuel pump and she fired straight up so i guess more digging about to do . any one ??????

wire the fuel pump into an ignition live
problem solved haha

i have an idea.. i think theres some fuses next to the ECU fixes to 2 relays.. check them and see if one has popped. if so, it could be because the fuel pump is drawing too many amps. it may have jammed up if it sucked some grit into it.. but then freed up..

also those relays can become touchy over time, you can change them for any standard 5 pin relay.

yes was thinking the same ..... but would be good to find fault , fuses looked ok must test though , relays tested ok the two switched pins are switched on together not make and break like normal five pins . so still delving . thanks for thoughts any other ideas most welcome , cheers .
