Any of you people have a CLX? I have one that is to be restored next year into a Italian Police dog Van. Question it is alot slower on hills than any of my other pandas Lindas auto it a mini rocket my 4x4 Trekking is a animal. But this CLX is so tame it start and runs well but lacks effort on hills. I did an engine change a while ago, Any ideas why? its got a spi system and cat fitted as standard.

i've also always found my 94 clx a bit lacking going up steep steep hills, Even in second. Ive also always found the "pull" in fourth and fifth to be quite minimal.

I'm presuming the Selecta and Trekking are 1.1? Might just be you are used to those so the 1.0 CLX seems slower.
:yeahthat: Got to expect a bit of a difference with about a 10 horse drop in power you know.. also pulling longer gearing if you hit a hill in top compared to those 2.

Thanks for yout replys guys It must be that I am more used to the 1.1 lumps it does pull ok on the flat but show it a long steep drag of a hill and it is second gear but what the heck I no speed nut.

I will get my buzz out of the restoration and conversion and all the police equipment I have got for her.

Thanks for your reply good points to look at(y) Heidi had a panda FIZZ and that had the same engine set up and that car would charge up hills no problem.

Might have had a 4x4 (or possibly a Punto) cam thrown in at factory

Fiat seemed to do that randomly, one of Purple Hazes Panda's, and my Selecta seem to have been lucky enough to have been one of a few this has happened to at times.

I thought it was used as standard to get the extra horse power out of the engine.

Nope, not that I'm aware of anyway. My Selecta has always been significantly faster than the one of dad's which was written off, and its replacement, so always assumed mine had recieved a 4x4 cam, as other than that possibility the cars were all identicle.

check the coil packs too

oh and of course make sure the head gasket is ok, mine had gone, but was ok apart from on hills...
