right, i'm breaking the silence (after 'bobbyblue' it's too quiet thread)

my croma is ill today

lost all power high up + EML on

after some examination i found the swirl bar not moving at all

looks like new inlet manifold is on its way @ £150 + fitting

this has made my week turn from bad to worse as on tuesday my other car has blown a head gasket:bang: (somebody said that disasters come in pairs)

Just to advise I had P2013 flag-up on mine in Mar @ 48.3K mls (shortly after a new EGR @ 47.6K mls) - but it didn't last, disappeared by the following day & no sign of since.

55 Prestigio 1.9/16v 150hp (54.8K mls)

Sorry guys, didn't mean to jinx anyone with my 'It's too quiet' post. If it's any consolation, I've picked up a screw in the shoulder of my nearly new LH nearside rear tyre, but it can stay there until I absolutely have to change it.

today i took the car to the garage, fault was still there

in the garage they told me to come back after 1 hr because the were busy

so i went to fiat to get some prices for manifold and stuff - £486.15 fitted

after leaving fiat there was my surprise - my croma came back to life, but EML stayed on

anyhow, came back home, cleared the EML and all is well for now(y)

we will see tomorrow...:)

Never been here but it might be worth investigating:

1) carefully disconnecting the swirl valves/control bar linkage from the actuator

2) manually moving the swirl valves several time from fully open to fully closed feeling for sticky or tight operating points etc.

As far as I know the swirl valve actuator provides feedback to the ECU on "travel time" from open to closed and closed to open and a simple slowing of the actuator response can cause problems. If this happens I've no idea what the ECU does. It could be that the ECU just flags the fault and then ceases to drive the valves to avoid forcing them or itself. Next start cycle it may just reset/retry the valves to see if the fault is still present.

Just some random thoughts.

I am new to this and my first ever post so please bare with me.
I have a fiat croma 1.9 tdi 16v yesterday I had a loss of power and it comes and goes.
Took it to a mechanic friend he plugged a computer and got error message FLOW SHUTTER VALVE. With code P2013 & P2004. Now mechanic friend pointed out a part which when I went to fiat for said is a throttle body for £227.56 which I can't afford, but got no choice. But I just don't want to waste money and buy a part I don't need. Can any one advice?

Many thanks

P2013 is variable intake sensor circuit high, which is your swirl flaps not moving or sensor disconnected maybe?

if you have power on and off than i think that your swirl flaps are sticking, try to disconnect the bar linking all 4 valves and then try to gently twist (clockwise) 1,2 and 4, also start the engine and see if no.3 is moving with the engine revs. If any of them is not moving then you'll need a new manifold.

Thanks will check it out tomorrow, so was fiat dealer wrong to sell me a Throttle body?

I hope it is something I can fox and not spend £485 on manifold ( been stupid and not mechanical no idea what it is )
