You go to Cov uni yeah? Well I just got accepted for two courses there and was wondering if you can tell me what course you do and what the uni is like? Particularly the comptuing side as the courses I can choose from are 'Creative Computing' and 'Multimedia Computing'. Cheers.

Gary

Hi Gary im at cov uni doing computer network science!

the multimedia is the easier of the two but every one does the same stuff for the first year! then you can change in the second if you want

i started off doing computer science first year then switched to computer network science in the second year

i think paul is doing transport design or something to do with engineering!

Yo Yo!!!
Come to Cove uni!!!

Best reson I can think... I'm HERE!!!!!

Don't bother with comps... come do my course!!

Emergency and Disaster Management!!!

Sounds wierd... it is wierd.. its amazing.. the people are great.. the course is great.. and most of all.. we have the most amazing time!

If you like a giggle and a laugh.. but also wanna get to meet interesting people and form friendship bonds for life then come have a look!

Oh.. geography or engineering interest helps... either or, you could do health also if u like that kinda thing!

Don't really have much choice now about courses 'cause I only applied for them two and got accepted for them both, I like the sound of them both but don't know which moreso... Your course does sound quite fun mind! I'm deffently going to coventry uni. just have to decide on a course :) Thanks for replies!

Gary

I do Multimedia Computing at Staffs Uni...

in my 3rd (placement) year at the moment so going back to do my 4th and final year in september.

the course is a good one - as ash said - it was the same for us at staffs - all computing courses do the same first year. i've covered every programming language, as well as the multimedia: animation, virtual reality, web design etc etc

one pointer is if you can, do the 4 year sandwich course with the placement year - it's well worth it!

Cheers for that :) Is it much of a 'arty' course? Does it involve many presentations? And mostly, is it enjoyable?

@Gary... i am indeed at cov uni , and as ash says i am in the art and design building (has some engineering) i have just finishing my foundation year so my actual 1st year is next year!

good points...

1)the libary is good, has loads of computers 24hours aday if you need them.

2)singer hall (accomidation) is quite nicly done out....

3)the city centre has most things you need and campus is in the centre.

bad points...

1)night life isnt as good as i hoped, my home town (remember cov is classed as a city) had more going on!

2)other then singer hall all the other accomidation sucks!

3)tommy k is here! :)

The city seems okay yeah :) I'm not going to be in student accomodation though, as my girlfriend is at Warwick uni on campus accomodation now and she'll be looking for her own place, so me and her are going to get a place in Coventry, hopefully Earlsdon. I didn't think the night life looked too impressive when I was down there either. I like all the pubs and **** on the surrounding villages though :D I'll probably see you guys down there when I come in September :)

Gary

i was in earlsdon last night... went for a curry club at wetherspoons, there is a wethersponns in the city centre but the one in ealsdon is nicer... if you are not in student accomidation then its pretty good i suppose, it doesnt feel like a city, just like lots of little villages...hence to pub comment...but if you want a good night birmingham is just down the road!!!

Paul R

I was in the Weatherspoons in Earlsdon last month! It's a nice pub yeah with good prices too! What are the parts of coventry to avoid living in? Thanks.

Gary

where i live!!! hillfields, and some places in stoke...i dont really know that much about cov...Ash is your man on this one!

Paul R

Avoid
bell green & aldermans green (war zone!!) spon end, hillfilelds, stoke

go for
radford earlsden and coundon are fine

all of cov has a high crime rate! if you dont lock and bolt it the fukkers will have it! and even if it is locked and bolted they still try!

the best places to live is radford earlsden!(coundon will be fine) or kenilworth(if you can afford it)

all you have to know in coventry to stop your car geting done over! is dont **** on your own doorstep! (basically dont show off with loud music round where you live! etc) and never ever leave anything on show or the cdplayer in the car! leave the glove box open too! so they can see the hu isnt in there!
