OT - Another Broadband & Router Query...

And another thing, just been looking on a tutorial site and it mentions something about Bluetooth. Now both computers have a bluetooth dongle supporting dial-up networking. Just had a quick fiddle and mine finds the other but has anyone had experience of this? Or am I just going to have to wait till i have broadband to test it?

Cheers

two lad cards are for if you ave a lan modem in one and the other pc plugged into the other, you then bridge the connection over the lan cards. you do notneed to do this as your modem is usb.

As for bluetooth between two computers, never tried it, would be interesting to know!

Well, an update on the bluetooth situation! Oh my god! lol. So far Ive managed to network the two via the bluetooth dongles. Only problem is that the client is being a bastard and the internet is refusing to work on it so far. Ive followed the instructions for sharing a connection but its not working so far. Grrr! lol

Well ive given up on that for now as I have a new problem.

Anybody had issues with getting broadband because there line is too long? Seems like im going to have to go with BT so they'll send an engineer out to have a gander. Bloody stitched up I tell you!

Re: OT - Another Broadband & Router Query.

I'm no pc wiz kid but
We are on broadband Internet and use wire less router for the 2nd pc
SO the only wires we got is from the wall to modem to the router 1 wire to pc1 and wire less to 2nd pc in the next room so no wires all over the place and no loss of speed
We got the router from maplins+ the usb receiver for 2nd pc(wire less)by Sitecom
As the modem and router is on all the time pc1 can be switch off and still use pc2 so vice versa
This way can work out expensive but we think its worth it not to have cables everywhere
hope this helps

Re: OT - Another Broadband & Router Query.

the line length from the exchange has been the limiting factor for broadband for a long time. BT recently released a new system which allows broadband to to be available at a much greater distance from the exchange, i have only been able to get broadband for a few months for this reason.

Try www.plus.net, they seem quite good if other companies are doubting that you can sign up. Or go with BT for a year, get the engineer out, then change once you have proven the line.
