hi guys , have read a couple of threads on this fuel but it was mainly by 2.4 abarth owners , i have a 1.6 , have any other 1.6 owners used shell optimax if so was or is there a difference , i normally use the 95ron stuff so i presume shell is 97 . any replys welcome ta guys

I'm using the Tesco stuff and running a 1.6 and take my word for it there IS a difference when you use it sadly at the Tesco site I go to they are discontinuing it the manager said he doesn't get the demand for it and they need the pump to get customers in and out quicker (n) so that means I will have to use the sainsbury's stuff which is 97ron:( will try and find somewhere thats got the 99 ron tho and hopefully wont have to travel miles to get it :(

I think you get a few extra mpg using Optimax or any of the premium petrols.

I use it mainly because the additives are suppose to keep the fuel system clean. Is supermarket petrol the same quality as Shell or Esso ?

I very much doubt it they more than likely blend their petrol the cheapest way possible to make the maximum profit and don't use any cleaning agents either so their petrol is actually shortening the life of your engine

:yeahthat: Find it makes engine smoother and more responsive... using it with Bosch Super 4's - not too bad as only 1-2p / litre dearer :D

:yeahthat: - both on fuel and spark plugs :)

Try Tesco Super - it is 99RON, and not classed as a 'supermarket' fuel because they sell it on behalf of Greenergy (y)

I really want to go back to it, especially now I am running Super4s. The main reason is laziness, a Total is right on my doorstep ;)

Think I might try that when I go back to Uni, I see Coventry & Coventry Arena Tesco Extra's are selling it now - nowhere in Devon though!
