No, not bad luck, bad driving.

You were too close to the car in front.

Funnily enough, no, I don't.

I'm constantly irritated by the tossers who cut into my 'safety zone' when I leave sensible gaps between me and the vehicle in front.

It's something you'll learn when you grow up.

Steve FUC* OFF!!!

Look mate it was in traffic, moving slowly so , go screw yourself!

I dont go off at people often on here but today mate,

FUC* OFF

Wow! What a mature and calculated response.

Ever wondered why insurance companies always go against you when you rear end someone?

Could it possibly be that in 99% of circumstances it's because you're at fault.

Face it, you were too close to the car in front, you weren't concentrating on what you were doing.

That looks like a fair old impact considering you were 'in traffic'.

Did you even use the brakes before the point of impact?

Fact is Steve, he was checking his blind spot and whilst the highway code recommends a 2 second stopping distance if you are unlucky enough to be checking your blind spot when someone slams on their brakes, chances are you won't stop in time.

Frankly, that's ********.

You should leave enough of a gap to be able to stop comfortably. This means you'd be able to have a quick check of the blind spot and still have enough time to stop.

99.9% of rear end collisions are caused by people driving too closely to the car in front. The rest are caused by people anticipating that the car in front is going to do something they don't (on roundabouts, for example).

The only real excuse for rear-ending someone is if they pull out unexpectedly from a junction - even then, defensive driving techniques should ensure you can do something about it.

Just spare some thought for the poor sod that was ran into.

Cheers Zenith You understand :)

Steve i aint getting into a war with you here, Its not wanted on the forum. Call it what you like, you were`nt there u dont know me from adam. But still you are judgemental. Go figure

and the poor sod as my anonm put it is fine, Slight scratch on a clip in piece of plastic

You ran into the back of someone. Your fault. Bad driving.

Perhaps it'll teach you a lesson, perhaps not.

If you run into the back of someone you need to go back and learn how to drive again.

Even if you were twice the required distance from the car in front, the time it would take to turn back and look ahead, then take on board that the cars in front had slammed their brakes on would probably still not be enough. Remember, the last time you saw it, the car would have been moving. A complete accident imo. Gutted for u m8. Was it a 4x4? Looks like the bumper is fairly intact still.

John

Say for instance the above applied, the correct gaps were there but there was black ice on the road. Who's fault would that be?

I know exactly how you feel mate, I did the exact same thing.

If there was black ice on the road, you'd have adjusted your driving accordingly.

Or perhaps not.

Most people don't appear to make any allowance for road conditions, hence me witnessing a white van taking to the grass verge to avoid tail ending someone in the fog last week. (FWIW, I had adjusted my speed and gap accordingly and managed to brake with a good 50 yard gap).

I agree John.

Steve - he accepts it was his fault, he will foot the bill, it hardly matters in the big picture. Not everyone is a perfect driver 100% of the time (even you, even if you won't admit it) and he posted just for a little sympathy.

Give him a break.
