old xbox remote power....

right found out the problam, i spoke to my brother who knows everything about computers and he said that you cant have a ribben cable longer than 3foot or so. so that has completly buggered my plans of half in the boot and half in the glove box.
right people i need some bright ideas please.

easiest way i would think is break the xbox down.
you have

• PSU
• motherboard(mobo)
• DVD drive
• Hard drive
• controller ports
• power/eject switch

psu can be removed and relocated anywhere really so whereever suits and extend the power cables to the mobo.
now the mobo requires cooling so can be remocated/shellede but will need cooling.
without the DVD drive/HD and PSU you can have the mobo in a case say 3/4cm high dependant on cooling fans.
dvd drive could be moved into a DIN style slot in the dash?glovebox? area.
HD is easy to mount somewhere.

if you chip the xbox you open up other possibilites such as running a no dvd drive bios and just running everything off a large capacity HD
