Can somebody give me the best intervals for an oil change on the 100 HLX. It's done just over 2000 miles and i'm starting to panick about the best time to change the blood of the engine. I hear so many variations i don't know whether i'm coming or going! Please help as it's my first Fiat and new car and i want to look after it. I've been told by the dealer that the first service is at 12,000 miles.

Thanks in anticipation.

Oil Change

On every new car I have had I always change the oil after about 3,000 miles. Pretty much every manufacturer says the first service is after 12,000 but I would always recommend an eary one to get rid of any swarf debris early on.
If you go to a dealers they will charge about £60 to do it, but in all honesty it aint difficult to do yourself for the cost of the oil and filter and about 20 minutes of graft. Or get a mate to do it for a fiver!

Oil Change - I forgot to add....

If you do it yourself, please be responsible and take the oil to the local disposal point. Thanks.

Oil changes, all depends...

....on the type of oil you use. If you use el cheapo multigrade (really not recommended) then every 3000 miles. If you use a good multigrade then maybe a bit longer 4000, semi synthetic then 6000 and a decent fully synthetic then they reckon you can go 12000 miles, I would say 8000 though, it won't hurt and really can only help prolong the life of the engine.
Did your car have the 1000 mile first service ?? because that oil change service is essential to get rid of any swarfy bits of metal left over from the manufacturing process.
