Have just covered 6k in my 1.4 sporting from new.The first service is due end of april 07 but was wondering if theres any benefit in changing engine oil now or just wait untill first service.Any oppinions/views appreciated
and the first one is one of the most important since there can still be machining swarf and stuff in there (like storage grease etc, hence why your first service is usually shorter time period than others).
6k is a good interval anyways, for NA fire engines 9k is usually the norm, but I would go for it, if you can afford it, both time nad £££'age wise.
Cheers for that.Have found a local independent,Alfatech in whitley bay who specilize in italian motors and will do the change for around£40 using a fiat filter and sellina oil so it will keep up to spec with the manufactures waranty.
alfatech are mint. use them as much as you can as they have made a lot of customers from fiat garages VERY happy.
£40 for a selenia oil change and fiat filter is well cheap.
oil alone is about £24 and a fiat filter £4.50-7
so they are basically doing it in 15mins or less of labour (which is how long it takes to change the oil with proper equipment, fiat garages however seem to charge far more, and will possibly damage your car with their carelessness in my experiance).

you tried to get sump plug off with a megre spanner!!! LOL
Took me hours of destruction and frustration to get mine off first time. Eventually gave up, went down the road to tool shop, spent £9.99 on some sump plugs for pretty much all cars.
and never looked back. hence 15mins work with proper tools and facitlies!!
