Technical oil change and DPF

Decided to have my oil & filter changed at 10k on the trekking as it feels sensible, asked that nothing gets reset on the service indicator etc as I'll have the proper service as well. The dealer insisted the DPF light will have to be reset with an oil change. What's that all about, is the particulate filter linked to the engine oil system? No lights were lit either so I'm puzzled, particularly if I'd decided to do the oil change myself.

Yes the dealer has done correct. The oil degradation indicator and service coupon indicators are separate systems so you'll still achieve what you want.

Had the oil degradation counter not been reset you'd have the car saying you need an oil change when it thinks, and would assume its still the original oil. If the counter is not then reset when it insists on an oil change the the DPF won't regenerate and your into a world of new problems.

I'm not sure if the free version will. Full details should be on the multiecuscan.net website. It's a good bit of kit though and well worth the paid for license (although having 3 cars in the household I can use it on I would say that)

Hi i have the same question i heard that the multiecuscan need diferent connectors for the oil change and reset of dpf what is the right colour? Thanks in advance
