ouch I start at 9 so not TOOO bad but its still a nasty 19mile drive. I can either motorway it which is useualy slow (and dangerous) or go thru town... SLOW!

Harefield is about 6 miles away, and at that time of the morning I'll probably get there in 15 minutes! I'm gonna try and push for late shifts - 12pm to 8.30pm. That way I don't have to get up early, I'll miss both the morning and evening rush hours and also school run too plus most of the work is already done on the ward (y)

But woe is me, I have to do proper night shifts this year. 8.30pm to 7.30am

Im going to drive. cant be arsed with a train. plus its a 15min walk to a train station anyway.
It wont be too bad on my bike. but for the first week or so ill use the car to get the feel of the route (where the speed cameras are lol) then once in my bike I can fly it and find short cuts (always do!)

sat nav and a camera/speedgun detector for me :) Though I know where they usually are and just have to watch for undercover cars harrassing people on my route

cant you get a train? car will rack up some miles big style!

I've looked into this quite alot:

If I get the £20 rail card, the train fair is presently £14 return if i pre-book every single ticket. The petrol per trip is less than that, leaving money for servicing etc.

Even more against the train: to get to the train station I either have to drive there, bus it (takes 2 hours 15 due to no direct link) or cycle (20 minutes traffic dependant) and the train journey is 1 hour 25 if everything runs perfectly, plus half an hour on a bus in Loughborough, so to get there and back by train will take at least 2 hours 15 each way without a lift to and from the station, vs a 50 minute drive (1 hour 20 in heavy traffic: tested)

L plates?
looking at your email address i guess you are same age as me (20) so if you do your full test (ASAP before they change it in the next couple of months) you will be limmited to 33bhp for 3 years. there is LOADS of bikes way under that power that can do a ton and more.

Yeah I know all about the changes (my dad is an instructor for Riders in Kingstanding; perhaps you know where [he rides a CBF600]) unfortunately I don't think I'm going to get chance based purely on time with my timetable being errrr: full

hopefully I will, and then there will be another Helmet in the house but god only knows where I could store it at home as dad's bike stuff eats most of the spare garden space!
