Just before Christmas, on my way back from Spain, I set off on the second leg of our journey at 07.45 when it was still dark. My lights came on automatically and the RT3 screen changed to its night colours. A little later the screen started to flicker and go very dim, although the map was just about discernible. The audible route instructions continued to function normally. After the sun rose and the automatic lights switched off, the screen functioned normally with daylight colours all the way to our second stop in Chartres (France). The next morning I started the car and, while it was warming up, I went over the windows with a piece of kitchen roll to remove overnight dew. At this point I noticed my nearside dipped headlight was not working but decided to carry on without changing the bulb. My RT3 screen now functioned perfectly whether in the dark or daylight.
We spent Xmas with our daughter in Kent and, whilst there, I changed the N/S dipped headlight bulb. We returned to Scotland yesterday and again the RT3 screen was fine.
The only reason for the screen flicker seems to have been a failing headlight bulb which, perhaps, was drawing a higher than normal current before finally failing and somehow affecting the RT3 screen.
I thought I would post this info in case anyone else experiences the same phenomena.
