Hi,

I recently went onto an 18 month contract with T-Mobile. To cut a long story short, I want out. I dont want to have to pay the remainder of my contract, so is there any way I can get out now, or possibly reduce my priceplan.
I know Im probably clutching at straws.
Many thanks in advance,

Martin

When did you sign up ?

If it was within the last couple of weeks, you may be lucky and still have a cooling off period. If not, you're probably screwed unless you buy yourself out :(

Read the small print or call their customer services.

i think with most networks you have to be with them a min term before you can drop tarrif, then pay it off to leave!
Basically you are in a contract that is not allowed to be broken by BOTH parties (you and t-mob). However, i endend my old voda contract short as they charged me too much one month by mistake, so they broke the contract, i was free to leave.

The only thing you can do is hope they break any part of the contract and your free to walk. They wont tell you, but legally you can go! Scrutinised your bills, if they say in contract your voicemail is free and they charge you, they have broke it. If they say that your price plan is x amount and the charge you too much (or little), its broken! etc etc!

Sorry not much else you can do!

I know ther contracts will be air-tight so I will watch them like a hawk and hope they break the contract somewhere!! :)

I signed up with them on the 7th October so probably too late now. I got the T-Mobile MDA Vario because I wanted a phone, WiFi, sat-nav and PDA all-in-one and this seemed like the best option at the time.

I am happy with it, and its reasonably small considering everything that it does, but it isn't easy taking the damn thing clubbing with me! Its like carrying a brick!!
At the moment I have two phone numbers as I am still using my old phone (Samsung D500) at weekends, but its not ideal.
Cheers for the info guys,

Martin

what about selling your mda to pay off your contract then restart a new one. Think best fone at mo is sonyericsson w950i

I had a look at that yesterday and the keypad is shocking !!! I couldn't get on with that. No doubting it's music credentials though.

Got me a Nokia N73 which I'm well chuffed with :) I just upgraded the firmware to the as yet unreleased Music Edition ;)

*** Updated ***

Sorry to bring up this post again but....

Is there any way I could keep my contract but get a different phone? I want a Nokia N73, so is it possible that I could either:

1. Just swap my T-Mobile MDA Vario for a Nokia N73 (possibly part with some cash also) by going through my provider

2. Sell my Vario and just buy an N73.

Or am I tied to the phone until my contract is up for renewal??

Many thanks,

Martin

u cant swap it with the provider. BUT do u have mobile insurance. u could say u broke ur phone. and then get a new one. i think u could then ask for the n73 but u might have to pay a little for it

I would imagine that your contract is pretty tight, but I would also imagine that T-Mobile might be pretty flexible in swapping your handset. Ultimately, they want you on their network, regardless of handset. Tariffs are where they make their money.

The only way to find out is to give them a call.

And the N73 is a top phone :) Let me know if you get it and I can point you in the direction of some good software and firmware upgrades :)

re

as above,

if your insured the easiest way may be to break it, get a brand spanking new one in a box and ebay it, or get it unlocked and ebay it!

otherwise just ring them and say you want to swapo phoens early, the worst that will happen is they will tell you how much they';d charge full price for the phone not on any offer. and you'll still be left with your old phone to sell.

I woudl think you'll probably just have to buy and sell phones yourself to swap though, if you do either cancel the insurance or make sure you tell them its a different phone!
