Hi everyone, soooooooo. I have a Bravo 1.9 120 diesel, 110000 miles. Out the blue a few months back I started to have issues trying to start the car. Key in glow plug light on-off, chugger chugger, turn key off, back on wait for glow plug light to go off chugger chugger start plume of white smoke. Sometimes it would chugger then a radiator temp warning would come on and cut out, even though its not been started all night/day. So I changed the battery. No change. Changed glow plugs. No change. Only now after a few attempts to start itll say check glow plugs. Took it to a friend with a diagnostic machine, no faults. He said try the relay. New one is in and you guessed it, no change. Any ideas before I smash the thing:( :( also when it does start and it's be driven for a while it'll start 1st time, than after a few hours and the engine cools it struggles to start. Any ideas would be appreciated so much, thanks in advance folks

Following with interest....

I'm having what sounds to be very similar issues with my 1.9d 120 bhp. It ticks over, at times sounds like it wants to start but just isn't able to complete the last step of the process. Battery is fine. One thing I can say, is that once it eventually does start, it has no problems re-starting if I turn it off - perhaps it's warmed up after a few mins? I may also be imagining things but if I unplug a high-powered USB phone charger from the cigarette lighter, turn radio off and fans, it seems to improve my chances.

Mine always struggled to start before I changed the glow plugs but you’ve done that so I’m not sure what it would be. Supermarket fuel doesn’t agree with my 1.9D so I always use bp regular or ultimate
