Im going to ring back tomorrow and try and get the price down. Is there still an FF discount for Adrian Flux? If they still want me to pay more its going to have to wait till after exams and im working again  Oh the joys of being young.

Yes there is, IIRC you just need to print off your profile page and send it into them :) Well done on the talking them into the swap, looking forward to seeing your mods (y)

Cheers Helz :)

:bang: ive just thought that on top of any extra im still going to have to pay more because im starting a new 12 months of insurance and the money im getting back would only be for just under 11 months. Unless they'll let me just carry on from the start date of my original policy

Just had a call back from Adrian Flux. They can offer me insurance with another insurer which would cost just over £150 more than im paying a year now and wouldnt charge me a cancellation fee as im just swapping policies. They would also refund my current insurance (which i paid in full) from today till the end of the year. The new policy would be with Equity Redstar and would allow any visual mods for no extra cost as far as i can gather. (y):yum:

Equity Redstar are doing good deals at the moment. I'm insured with them, it cost me just under £50 to change from a 52 plate 1.6 stilo to a 57 plate GPS 1.9 Mjet.

i use quinn direct myself and they allow anything that isnt performance enhancing so ive listed interior styling. exterior styling. alloys and lowered, this is the only thing that put it up. if your quote is cheap then i would save up for the mods doing proper ones instead of something tacky looking like its straight from ripspeed lol.
what about interior modifications? new stereo, speakers etc. if you crash you can at least remove these. i know a few people with cars listed as standard but are far from it. i am not one 2 take this risk as i have had a friend crash and insurance didnt help with anything due to an unlisted modification

Thats crazy, Af are well known for providing modified car insurance, cantr believe they've put you on a policy that doesn't.

Id tell them that if feel as if ive been mis sold the policy as i did mention the possibility of future mods and as a result i will be terminating the relationship with the company unless they can come to an agreeable solution. ( ie get you onto the other policy free of charge) Are you still withing your cooling off period? If they say its within your t+c's ask for a trace of the call where you mentioned mods, and ask to submit a formal complaint with regards to their error. By this point, they should waive the £150, or at least be more flexible with you.

Good luck with it, and remember you are the buyer, you have the rights. they want your business, dont be afraid to take it else where. (and dont pay the cancellation fee as you dont technically want to leave, but they are forcing you with their misleading reps)

Phew.....

rant over

Right this is my first post so be gentle :)

Ive been insured with NIG through Adrian Flux for around a month, and i rang them last night to ask about mods (ive just got some tinted rear lights, gotta start somewhere eh:rolleyes:). I was told that the insurer doesn't allow ANY modifications and that they would void my policy. But ive read through all the booklets and stuff i got sent and nowhere does it mention this, and i wasnt told when i took out the insurance. Really im annoyed at myself for not asking about this when i took the policy out, i'd been looking forward to getting my first car and doing bits and bobs to it for years :( Any ideas? Is the only option to cancel and find another insurer? (which isnt really an option as i cant afford the cancellation fee)
Cheers for reading :)

On the FIAT FORUM INSURANCE SCHEME, we can't insure 18 year olds but I would say that if your current company won't cover you for any reason, you should be entitled to a pro-rata (day by day) refund for the unexpired portion of the policy. This is whether you stay with your current brokers or not.

We, as brokers (and insurers), must always be seen to 'treat customers fairly' so you would have a good case if you threatened to take this up with the regulatory body - FSA in this case.

The problem is if i do get a pro-rata refund i cant afford to pay the difference between my refund (around 10 and a half months worth) and the cost of a new 12 month policy. But then again the longer i leave it the more months no claims im going to lose and the bigger the difference in prices :bang: I dont think i really have a choice but to stay with them and keep my car standard for a year :(. I rang Adrian Flux back again and they say that as i didnt ask specifically whether i'd be allowed mods they didnt have to tell me. Although it is not mentioned in my policy booklet
