Hi all, used to have a "Y" reg seic schuey a few years back, really regret selling it now

Anyhow, thinking of a 500 as a "to work and back" hack as it might just be a little bit cheaper than my GTA 3.2, quite fancy a 1.2 for the cheap road tax and (hopefully) reasonable performance, so, any tips or things to avoid? Is there a buyers guide in the 500 lounge?

Do you mean the TwinAir? The 105 looks very new and from what the test I read reckons it might struggle to use the fuel than the GTA!
:)

Hi. Yes the twinair. And no it really isn't bad on petrol. It suffers from re fact that the official figures are not achievable in everyday driving but it is still very economical. Roughly speaking I get 40mpg commuting. 50 on a longer run and have seen 70 on a gentle A road run. But believe me the fact that it is Eco friendly (including zero road tax and petrol being cheaper than diesel) is a bonus. You have to drive it to understand. Especially if you drive back to back with a 1.2!

Cash is the problem, my last car was £100, so £6k is about the limit for a commuter scooter

Forget the 500, you won't get much for £6k and IMO it's way overpriced secondhand.

Look seriously at the 1.2 Panda, that'll buy you a good late model Mk3 & still leave plenty of change. It's essentially the same car with a different body.

Had a couple as hire car holiday hacks, very nice. (Even had an '89 F reg many years ago!) for the 2 miles to work it might be a better bet!
