2 months ago i replaced my worn front brake pads with new ones (valeo brand) butthey are very noisy and make a high pitch noise even if i slightly press the brake pedal! it iv very annoying and disturbing while driving! anyone can help me get rid of these noises coming from the pads? My mechanic told me valeo are good pads that`s ok but for me they are noisy
any solutions ? note: both left/right rotors was changed 2 months ago aswell

Yes! Two possible solutions:

1- Copper grease on backs and edges of pads, cheap and effective for a while.

2- Sticky silicone 'paint' on backs and edges of pads, sold as an anti-squeal solution and similar to the coating on the shims that come with pads for newer brake designs (Uno pads don't seem to come with shims).

The stuff I have is a rubbery orange goo from the USA, I have found it very effective, but I see when I do a Google search that lots of people are not so certain. Though, I see somebody applied it to the friction side of the pads instead of the backs :bang:

I still recommend the silicone paint though; seems to last a long time, even if the brakes are really cooked in track use etc.

Seems to be a good summary of the options plus advice from CRC in this thread: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99178

I thought the squeal was caused by the ridges in the disc - when you fit new pads they are flat and take some time to bed into the rings on used discs

I found I can get lots of squeal on new discs. On the other hand I found that ridges in the disc, if they are major, can cause a low-pitched 'winding down' sound just before coming to a halt.
