How long does it sound like a tractor for? Minutes? tens of minutes?

Hi there!
Can anyone tell me why my 96 1.4sx that i have had for three weeks now sounds like a tractor until it warms up then it is fine. It has new oil and it has been flushed so i am a bit concerned.

It only lasts for about 3 minutes!. The oil light goes out straight away then it rattles for a while then it suddenly goes quiet.

How many miles on it? Sounds like the oil pressure regulator is sticking which ain't too good.
My van does the same but its got 300,000 miles on it.

Ian, its a van, they last forever
Keiron, a garage should be able to clean the valve out, its probably just sticky with old oil.

Tom, so if I put some metal sheets across my back windows theoretically making it a van (because it has no back seats either atm). Would it last 300,000 miles?

Azza, its not that.
Ian, no To make it into a van you have to pile lots of McD's wrappers on the dash, paint it white, never clean it, snap half the front numbet plate off, kick one door in, never EVER change the oil and lasty write 'clean me' on the back.
