Hi,
My 1.3 TD Multijet is working OK, but often, during an acceleration from stationery, starts making the 'dieselling rattle' which comes and goes during the acceleration. I thought that HDI injection systems were not supposed to do this?
Also, there is a constant tappit like noise which stops when the accelerator is released, re-appearing when depressed again.
For information, I have had a recon engine which would not accept the Fiat Common Rail, so the garage fitted a Vauxhall Corsa equivalent. I notice that this is shorter and does not have the electrical Pressure switch (?) on the nearside end. It has been totally blanked.
Has anyone had a similar problem.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Terry

So you were supplied a Vauxhall engine for your fiat? Without knowing all the differences between the engines it's difficult to say what might be going on.

I would do an oil change, make sure the right low viscosity oil is in because the rattling could be the chain not lubricated properly and when this happens they tend to snap. Also being a "recon" engine do you really know it's history and what the "recon" involved.

Tapping can also be the hydraulic rappers which it another symptom of having the wrong oil
