hi all
not wishing to take the proverbial on my first post but have a big problem!
I bought a ducato lwb 4.8ton minibus last year to convert to a race transporter which is now well underway, I bought with an honest description of a crunchy box into 2nd gear (ok if you double-de-clutch). just get it fixed I thought.
I have removed the box and given to a local specialist who has now said it is not repairable as fiat/citroen/? no longer make the parts.
mine is the 2.5 engine, will the gearbox from a 2.8 ltr of the same year fit or would it be best to do a complete engine/box swap
pleeeessse any help here

Not enough information, what year, which engine, what was the original gvw of the your van and the gvw donor van.

Theres loads of different gearboxes, different weight ratings, different ratios, hydraulic clutch, cable clutch, mechanical speedo, electronic speedo, turbo, non turbo etc. etc.

A lot of the NLA parts are still available from the citroen, peugeot, iveco,www.axel-augustin.de, the 2.8 syncro may be identical.

ok here goes as far as I know ;;1997 (R) 2.5 turbo diesel originally a 14 model 5 speed with a cable clutch to be honest I wasn't expecting such a minefield with regards to something like a crunchy gear!

The 14 model has smaller brakes, driveshafts etc. the second gear syncro is common to the 2.5 NA (18 model), 2.5td, 2.8 td, 2.8jtd (pre hydraulic clutch) shouldn't be hard to source one to fix your own box. Shouldn't be too hard to find the right box anyway most of that era have rusted out sills at this stage.
