Hi everyone i tried to post this already but cant find it so i apologise if its already posted. I am knew to the forum and am realy into small powerfull cars i own a c20xe mini at the moment. Even though i have never been in or owned a fiat uno i have always realy liked them. My two questions are these cars are still made in other countries even though productuion stopped in Italy in 1995 does this mean that a new car or new shell could still be imported from another country??? finally i noticed some people were getting well over 200 bhp out of these 1.4 turbos i just wonderd how this was been done i know renault 5 can get around 200 bhp just wonderd how people were getting such figures hope someone can help

Many Thanks

200bhp is achieveable but expect to spend lots :p and engine will need rebuild . you can get about 150 with stock pistons etc. with a few hundred spent on them :)
and they have unos in south africa i think or something but you can find some mint shells here

when its up and running agian check out www.turbocollective.net some of the guys on there come on Fiatforum but not often :( they're enclycopedias of uno turbos :p

thanks for the reply sorry just two more questions where can you get mint shells from?? also are there any big companys that do engines and tuning ect like ktec are for renault 5s?

Hello and welcome to the forum

Even though i have never been in or owned a fiat uno i have always realy liked them.

We do too ;)

Technically yes. It's still made in Brazil though looks quite different from the front compared with European Unos. Also bear in mind that the Brazilian Unos have a clam shell bonnet (like the Tipo) therefore very little of the UK Uno front end body parts will fit. I'm not sure but I think the suspension may even be slightly different too.

Best bet is to keep an eye on Ebay as every now and then a very clean base model car will turn up and can often be had for not much money. All the 3 door Uno shells are the structurally the same so it's very common to find a rusted turbo re-shelled into a tidy 45 shell. However, both me and Jai have noticed a sharp decline in the number of Unos coming up for sale over the past year along with prices actually RISING for a tidy 45/ 60 model. To give you an example, in 2003 I paid £46 for my 1986 3 door Uno 45S (good runner, short MOT and 4 months tax) and the going rate then was probably around £50 - £75. Only recently a scruffy 5 door on Ebay went for £150+ and very clean 3 door shells have fetched as much as £300! Mk1's are generally more expensive as they're rarer though the mk2's are getting noticeable thin on the ground as well.

Some people *are* getting over 200bhp but there's also a lot of people who *think* they're getting this much. Only a rolling road can give a true indication.

Both the 1.3 and 1.4 versions can hit 150bhp ish with little more than bleed valves allowing the turbo to boost higher and a few other mods. To go over this figure you need things like hybrid turbos/ bigger intercoolers and possibly different injectors. I'm sure one of the turbo lads will come along shortly and explain what is needed as I'm not an expert in turbo tuning.

Either way they're great cars if you can find a nice one. Even the smaller engined versions are fun to drive and still surprisingly practical for today's roads.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for all replies you have all been a great helpi will start looking

where can you get mint shells from??

Ebay is your best bet, or anywhere shifting p'ex vehicles. If you get lucky you'll find the one granny owned from new 45 with 30K on the clock. Otherwise good Uno shells are getting very rare.

also are there any big companys that do engines and tuning ect like ktec are for renault 5s?

Guy Croft. He isn't cheap but his reputation suggests he does know how to build a good engine.

Otherwise wait for Turbo Collective to come back online and see who they suggest as good engine builders.
