Hi & Welcome here!
I found the below by Searching using your keywords, courtesy of "colinsrea"
My Remote key stopped working the other week so naturally i replaced the battery in the remote which made no difference still didn't work, so phoned my Fiat dealer, who informed me that the key may need reprogramming or it as gone faulty but to prove this they would need the key code to check the key fob, which i replied that i wasn't supplied with a key code and there reply is that in the UK the key code isn't supplied but held with an independent security company and would cost £35 +vat for the code and £40+vat to check the key, after phoning another dealer thinking it was them, another dealer quoted the same price for the code but £20 for checking the fob, speaking to the dealer I think it was the mechanic, he said that Fiat put the prices on this but the dealer doesn't pay for the code which they get faxed over in minutes, I complained to Fiat UK who said that due to insurance safety they don't give out the code but ISR charge the price not them, shame I don't live abroad the code is free with the car, My Nissan came with all the codes so what does this say Fiat You just rippoff your customers.
Also suggested by Shadeyman was to disconnect the Neg (earth) terminal of the battery for a few hours, this sometimes re-sets the ECU.
