First of all, as this is my first post I would like to say hello to everyone.

Second of all I would like to ask a few questions about my Fiat Punto MK2 1.2 8V(02 Number plate)

1st Question, the car makes a distinct screechy noise at idle and low RPM, sounds like a bearing or the alternator. Any ideas or a suggestions on how to stop it.

2nd Question, I am looking to install a remote central locking, since the car already has the central locking, I am looking for the 2 wires that unlock and lock the car. I looked around and there isn't a lot of information on where about the wires are. After looking around, both online and in the fuse box, I am guessing the wire is in the cluster that has couple of wires going to the key that are in a black heat shrink, but I cannot find which wire it is. Any help would be nice here.

3rd Question, I cannot find any manuals online for the car, I browsed the forum and all links are either dead or lead to the wrong thing.

4th and the last Question, What are the need to do or need to know about my car, performance, maintenance, safety and anything else that you can suggest.

Hi and welcome:wave:

The alternator belt could be past it's sell by date or loose and slipping. Check the tension and if it looks jaded replace it.
A Haynes manual would be a good investment. Start reading and build up your capabilities slowly.

Ill give it a once over, I am currently changing the gasket seal and cover as that's leaking oil, I am wondering if some oil go in there, seems like an easy fix.

On your first question. Possibly a belt. They can and do cause screeching.
A quick test is to squirt a small amount of water on the belt and pully area, use a fairy liquid bottle or similar. If it goes quieter, then it is the belt. Change it for a good quality one and job is sorted.
If in a rush just use a kettle and pour water slowly on the belt and pullies. Noise stops - new belt needed. :)
A quick spray of wd40 also does the same job, it won't cure it. It just tells you if it is the belt or not.
