Hi all! Just became a Fiat owner today when I picked up a 1980 Spider 2000 5-speed. Very clean little car. Last regular use was in the 1990's and had been garaged since with occasional starting up and a short run once in a while. Fuel tank was half full and the gas was several years old. Needed to get the car by a quick mechanic for a check of belts/hoses and then to it's temporary home before hauling it up to the Seattle area. About 4/5 of the way through a 20 mile drive to temp home (and after a clean check-up by the mechanic) it started stuttering a bit and if I gave it some fuel it stuttered/bucked and acted fuel starved. Fuel at this point was around 1/3 of a tank roughly. My guess is bad fuel (probably condensation added water to the tank). So, my hunch is to drain the tank somehow and replace the fuel filter. Not sure if the tank can be siphoned or if I need to disconnect the line from the fuel tank and run the ignition and pump the fuel out. Can it be siphoned? Advice on what else I should do?
Thanks!
Thanks!
