Hi Guys,

Good forum you've got going here. Just took a plunge on a 04 Multipla JTD so I hope I can contribute in time.

Bought it in Kent and drove back to Ireland. We chose the multipla for the practicality (3 kids under 6) but I have to say I was impressed with how well it drove on the 560+mile trip from Kent to the South West of Ireland. I found the seating position very comfortable over 12 hours of continuous driving so thats an unexpected bonus(y) I may be fighting with herself for the keys for the regular road trips I take for work. It did the trip on 1 tank of diesel being driven at 85mph for 70% of the journey so thats pretty impressive too (42mpg for a high speed trip is not bad).

The Multipla had 71,500miles on the clock with 1 owner in Kent and a full sevice history including all the MOT certs confirming mileage history. The service history got a little dodgy for its last year, there was a sudden drop off in mileage between the last 2 MOT's, it may have been traded in and gone unsold but I figured that 7 good years of honest service history is better than I'd get with most so I took the plunge regardless.

The car is in effect replacing a 4x4. I needed a 4x4 for work up till last year but now most of my work mileage is on the road so I'm going to park up the 4x4 and take my wifes current 04 Prius and she'll have the Multipla. The Prius was a real tight squeeze for a family with 3 smallies so she'll find the flexibility of the Multipla a huge bonus. The kids are already in love with the ugly bug.

The only downside is that she'll have to re-learn how to drive a stick shift, cars don't come any more automatic than the Prius. She got an awful fright yesterday trying to do a hill start for the first time in 5 years and realised she'd completely forgotten how :p:p

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself, see you around(y)

Nice to have you on board. The Multipla Section is as informative as it gets really. If you ignore the fact that its predominantly problems (who posts on a forum just to say "Hi, my car is working fine"?) you'll find it most useful. TRUST ME ON THAT!
Enjoy your stay, we've a few members on the emerald isle and who knows, they may be near you.
