newb driver and scared a little

hello everyone i passed my test last week on tuesday first time, so i bought a
fiat punto 1.2, 5 doors. 53k miliage R reg all for £995

got my insurance which was 1970 and im a guy so im really impressed with that

i learnt to drive in a car with PAS so it was easy and not so much turning however

after testing a ford fiestia which had mroe problems than you could shake a stick at i took it for a test drive and i needed to be a body builder to turn the wheel because it was naft

i have tried to turn the steering on the punto at the garage and truth be told its pretty easy evan though it has no power steering so i am curious to know will i notice any diffrent because i gotta pick it up when the garage guy gets the V5 document back from DVLA since he lost it over summer

It goes without saying but just take it easy for the first few days until you get used to the car. I'm pretty sure the Mk1's do have power steering though, maybe I'm wrong

Cars with power steering that doesnt work are hard to turn.
Cars without power steering are not hard to turn especially when the vehicle is moving.

So if it is hard to turn even when driving id suspect it isnt working or you have severe lack of tyre pressure.

Lower speeds make steering heavier in non PAS cars so parking is more difficult, its something you get used to.

Other than that give it some time and you will get used to it, as well as when u get a car with it will complain that the steering is really light and there is no feedback!
