Driving an Alfa 33 at the mo, the dirty carb'd 1700 model. I'm thinkin of going uno again. Alex, you got anything up for grabs? can be a total crapper, prefer a 60 or 70 with 5 speed.

MB Quarts are still going strong!!!

Cheers,

Matt

Yep, member of Eurosport, I actaully live very close to the pub, but have never actually made it along.

Yeah, in all honesty I was looking at that crap little sting on there. Now, I seem to remember Mal Simmonds telling me about one of the little Uno's, how all the mounts were different from the others (the 60 - 70 and so on) What I cant remember was if it was the Sting or the Fire. Anyone know about this?

Cheers.

The sting and FIRE use the same engine mounts. The 60 and 70 use a different drivers side mount but the other two mounts are the same (the one on the subframe and the one under the battery).

I have just put a 1600 tipo motor in my uno so had to get the mount, gearbox, and exhaust from an Uno 70 (because mine was originally a sting).

The cool thing about the sting is that it is a three door, which is more desirable.

What happened to the 1500 James?

All the engines and mounts are interchangeable so It does not really matter what you have.

Heh hey - Big Matt is still around!
What you really want is my Turbo, but I still don't really want to part with it so it would be lots of money.
You should get the $1501 one on Trademe - that belongs to a Trademe regular.

James has an odd fetish for rusty Uno 5-drs :) but oddly, he hasn't bought one lately (and so between us we've sold the five 5-drs that we had). So it was a good try but we don't have any Unos for sale at the moment. I like the look of the Sting on Trademe but there's also a 70SXie which would be quite nice to drive.

Anyway, good to see you're alive and kicking.

The 1500 was poo, lots of smoke and stuff.

Now I have a 1600 :) its got a 1300 head (more compression) and the 1500 cam (lumpyer).

Its also got a half cage now and Maurice welded a plate onto the rear beam... hopefully I will do a bit better at future club events... If I dont then thats just my problem :)

Hmm, that sounds good! How does is go?

Yeah, I pretty much do want your turbo, oh well, I'm sure I'll get one sometime. I'm keeping an eye on the sting, doors look a bit funky, kinda like my old one really, just do that bog and a black stripe thing, that worked well, didnt it, lol.

Just put a fatty fat fat exhaust on the Alfa just for a laugh, its rather amusing really. You still got your big Alfa, Alex?

No I don't have my 164 - see my link in the signature

I have a Stilo instead. It's owned by my company to explain-away the running costs (and the huge depreciation). But it's not really much of a car - it's just a large hatchback, like a Tipo. Awful handling on the track and it doesn't have the ride or the tight feeling of the 164. Plus, it doesn't have the classic appeal of the X1/9 that I sold at the same time as the 164, though I had mixed feelings about the X1/9 as an 'everyday' car. The Stilo certainly has lots of toys, is quiet, sounds great, and looks the part.
