Hi
Just bought a cinq sporting 1108 R reg in broom yellow - I was sort of looking for a seicento. Then, this came up for sale, went to have a look and the rest is history.
The good:-
Low mileage - 36k, spare rear bumper, good condition inside and out, 4 new wheels, recent service, new brakes.

The bad:-
Paint good/ok for 20 yr old car, but has been touched up, which makes it look worse. Needs spare bumper painting and putting on, stain on middle of black seat bit of rear seat. All wheels have been kerbed, so need refurnishing. Tiny hole in both rear wheel arches that have been repaired, but needs welding to stop any further problems.
Original service book missing, and another one instead for an SX, limited paperwork.

Needs:-
Cambelt/Waterpump done & alternator belt done
Wheels off and being refurbished this week
To find a painter, either mobile or otherwise
How to remove the bumper bolts/replace seems to be a problem
Also, need to look at rear bumper brackets
Under seal?
Going to put in existing cd/Bluetooth head unit
Welder to sort out wheel arches.
MOT - passed on Monday, no advisories.
Rear seat stain sorting, tried 4 times with upholstering cleaner - but it's still there.

Any advice please, as wanting to get stuff sorted before I get her on the road for summer.
Also, what spares are good to get in, as Im unsure what would be good to keep just in case. Or just keep in the car, ie spare clutch cable.

Thanks

This is my 1st post here, so apols if Ive missed something (current car is a panda)

welcome,
if the holes in wheel arches are tiny, sand off all the corrosion around them , use rust killer, then paint, then fill, then prime and top coat.
welding can often be a source of new rust if its not treated and painted correctly afterwards.
just an opinion.

welcome again

My advice would be to give it a long, hard run it to see what problems and faults it throws up.

I bought a 30,000 mile, 1994 Cinq 899cc which threw up rather a lot of problems including seized tappets ... At the moment after having removed bits of alloy from the bores (no damage to valves, bores or pistons ... and no idea how it got there..) it won't start. As yet I've been unable to find out why it won't start.

Low mileage -old- cars can suffer from a lot of gremlins, particularly electrical. If you run the car you may get a few thrown up .. but usually they tend to clear themselves.

You can expect things like sticky brakes and rattles and clunks. If the car has been standing most of its life you can also expect some of the bushes to be 'squishy' and knock when you go over a bump.

Waxoyling the underside/arches/tank is a good idea if you intend keeping the car for years to come. And always make sure the 710 cap is tight (photo attached).

Just to add, I would advise against rushing in & undersealing the car. You will more likely than not be covering up trouble. Take your time & have a good look under the car & see what's what & decide where you are. I would be very surprised if things are rust free under there.
