Hello all,

hopefully i can find out a lot about my car from this forum. from reading everyone seems to give some good ideas.

I have bought an 06 Fiat Grande Punto 1.9 Multijet Sporting and whatever i seem to try with the USB port in the glovebox nothing happens? i've tried my ipod, my dads mp3, my usb stick with mp3 files on it and when i plug it into the port i get no responce what so ever.

Can anyone let me know what i'm doing wrong?

Hi,
I noticed no-one has replied to your post. Your car, like mine, is pre Blue&Me and therefore according to FIAT (my dealership, FIAT tech support etc) is not there to pick up sound data. A data stick will indicate a live connection with whatever LED it has but the unit doesn't pick it up. I was looking for any further info. because it seems idiotic to put a USB port connection in a vehicle without apparent purpose :bang: - but according to a post on the forum there are 2 ports in the glove box on the Blue&Me system - one for the user and one for servicing (!) although the poster said the latter port worked for him after the appropriate one broke. So it seems that we and all the rest of the 06 and pre 06 lost out on the deal. It is irritating given the amount of music available on a memory stick compared to a CD - in fact CDs are virtually now obsolete unless you have the highest of hi-fi systems in the car. If you see this and have found out any further info. then post it here. I intend to fit a CD/MP3/Radio unit I bought for my last car although that isn't straightforward. I don't intend to use the phone set-up anyway.

Hi Gerhold,

it's good thay someone has finally been able to suggest whats up with the USB unit in my car. That is a pickle isnt it, especially as the dealer i bought the car from quoted that the USB picks up music devices.
As you mentioned most of the cars have two USB ports but i can only find one.

Thing is you mentioned it being pre-blue and me but i does that mean that your car cannot connect to your phone either as mine does connect and works fine as making calls etc.

It is a bit of a :bang:. I'm planning on visiting the dealer soon so hopefully i'll be able to properly clear up whats the problem with my car!

Steve
