Hi,
I recently bought a 1979 Fiat Spider with 100000 miles. Paid $500 for the car delivered to my home and it does have new tires. I live in southeast Arizona. The car is very straight and very solid, no rust at all. The PO broke a bolt on the fuel pump and tried to use an easy-out to remove it. He didn't drill straight and broke the easy-out. He also tampered with the wiring and left it dangling from the dash.

Due to space constraints, I will pull the engine to fix the broken bolt. I thought I would delete the mechanical pump and install an electric pump.
I also thought...while the engine is out, I would replace the rings, bearings, oil pump, and all the gaskets and timing belt / idler. Is there anything quick and easy I should do for performance while I'm in there?
I thought about removing the air-pump from the system.

I'll also go through the auto trans and replace the seals and clutches.
I'll also re-work the wiring, replacing all terminals and adding redudent grounds and appropriate relays.

The top is gone and the interior is rough and I will buy new vinyl and take the interior to Mexico, about 15 miles away, and have the upholstry rebuilt.

I'll replace all of the suspension bushings, ball joints, tie-rod ends, and shocks.

I'll likely have it painted in Naco, Sonora, Mexico too, these guys do a fantastic job for very little money.

I'm really looking forward to building this great car.
