I am only an owner because I was able to get such a substantial discount under the new UK scrappage scheme.
I scrapped a quite nice little Peugeot 306 which had cost rather more than it was worth to get through the MOT. This we'd exchanged with our daughter for a flight to Oz.
I bought an azure 1.2 pop automatic - almost the base model but I hadn't been considering a brand new car until the scrappage scheme. It was only luck there was one to this spec in a relatively local showroom otherwise the wait would have been months. I had to ring round myself, the local showroom said there might be one in the system but didn't bother to check.
