A couple of new noises have developed on my 1.9 07 Sedici recently. An intermittent clicking which obviously comes from the heater fan, sometimes it goes after ten minutes or so, other occasions it is not there at all, but on one day it persisted all day on a 300 mile journey.

Around the same time I became aware of a slight humming from the rear of the car, which I suspect may be the fuel pump. My garage mechanic could not even hear it, but that is not surprising as the Sedici diesel engine would drown the noise from a machine gun.

Is there anything here that suggests iminent faliure ???

John - You may have some debris that has fallen in to the fan area. Its all fairly easily accessible. IIRC you change the pollen filter from within or under the glove box. Cannot recall completely as did mine a few years ago. Once the filter face is removed you can see the spinning drum fan easily. Ours did have some leaves/sticks that had been sucked in. If its coming from that area that will be your issue.
As for rear humming it could be a rear wheel bearing if its from one particular side. Whats the mileage? Only issue here is that the Sedici rear bearing come as a complete unit including the hub assembly. Around £300 from Fiat!

Many thanks Nello for your interesting reply. The Pollen filter was changed at a very recent service which basically rebuilt the car !! As regards the rear I did suspect both the fuel pump and wheel bearings initially, but it can only be heard when the engine is running, which fortunately eliminates the bearings. You may well be correct about a foreign body in the fan, because that now seems to have gone, and may wait for a while and see if the humming gets worse.

OK John - won't be the bearing then if only heard with engine ticking over. Especially with that amount of mileage. Ours was good for well over 50k.
