New member - first day with a Fiat Cinque SX

Hi.
Took delivery of a Cinquecento 1997 model SX today. The transmission is screeching like a banshee in first 4 gears. Also seems to be running fast especially when first switched on. Have I made a terrible and expensive mistake? Car is otherwise fine! I could get to like it if the noise goes away.....

Hello and welcome Sorry to hear you're having trouble with your car Come and check out the Cinq/ Sei section further down as a few of us have had this problem lately with solves ranging from alternator belt slippage to oil leaks to gearbox oil leaks.

Thanks a lot - but this morning the noise has gone away! Maybe it is the alt belt as you suggest (or just one of those things......!)
