Hi from Australia!

I'm looking at buying a 500 Bambino. The floor is a little rusty, the body is straight, but has no engine. Are engines easy to come by?

Thankyou!
Mandy

Hi Mandy and welcome to the Forum.
The great thing about restoring and owning a 500 is that you can still buy pretty much everything locally or from suppliers around the world.
There are several friendly Aussies on this forum scattered around the country and between us we will be able to offer some practical advice.
If you can let us know what part of the country you are in and the year and model of your 500 i'm sure we can help you find what you need!:)

Mandy,

Welcome to the forum. You will find that anyone looking to get a 500 back on the road will have lots of friends here. Are you looking for a full resto or just a tidy?

You can get new floors (reproduction units) and just about everything else you need to repair / restore. Any second hand engine and gearbox will have to be looked at and you might consider puttinga 650 cc motor in. Not sure how hard it will be to find either one. Where in Oz are you?

Lots of help here, just ask and you will get a response.

Look here for a source of spares overseas.

Lots of others out there, but this will give you an indication of what is available.

Hi I'm also in Australia I've owned 5 fiat 500 over the years and would be happy to assist with any questions you might have?

Thanks and good luck!

Hi Mandy, do yourself a favour and buy a complete car. Avoid other people's "unfinished projects"
By the time you find a suitable engine, rebuilding, scouting parts etc, you can easily blow thousands of $$$. That money can be spent on a fairly decent runner.
If you are new to the classic car game, just be patient and with that the right little car will come along.
Cheers and good luck with your 500 affair.

Hi Mandy!

I'm also from Australia, I've recently placed a deposit back in end of Jan and the dealer has been delaying and delaying the fiat 500 pop date.., I'm getting so frustrated that I'm not sure if this is a normal case or should I pull out and consider another car instead...

Heidi, What you're referring to is the NEW Fiat 500 (current) - not the 'bambina'. You're in the wrong forum model category....
The Fiat Punto is now great value at AUS $13,000 driveaway. Much more practical than the 500.
