I have now managed to get my airbag out and just to answer my own question (in case anybody did'n't know) and judging by the info I have seen regarding other asking the same question. There is a metal clip inside the steering wheel that goes around the airbag. On both sides are two holes what i did was to insert a philips screw driver into each one and wriggle it to try and flick off the clips. May take some time but worth the effort and money of taking it to a dealership to get some moron to get his "special tool" and charge you a packet. Also leave the battery disconnected for about half hour before disconnecting otherwise you'll get a big fat warning light.
