I got the dreaded "Start & Stop Unavailable" message on my Qubo a couple of days ago. I came on the forum and searched for it and then stopped at my dealer on the way home last night to make an appointment to have it sorted.
Much to my amazement, they were unloading a shipment of new cars. There was a 2012 Punto, a Panda 3, several Lancias and a pair of Jeeps.
The new Punto is really an improvement. About the only things I'd change would be to make the lower grille the same width as the upper one and to have both a reversing lamp and a fog lamp on each side. The one on display was for only €8700 including VAT. It was far from loaded but did have airco and some other nice extras.
The Panda 3 is a big step in the right direction. A little bigger the the Panda 2, the style is much improved and the interior is miles ahead. I really hope this will be a hit. I'd been reading that it would go on sale in March. I don't know if they are selling them now or just taking preorders.
There was a Lancia Thema (Chrysler 300), Voyager (large Chrysler MPV) and a Ypsilion in two tone paint. Seeing it that way let me clearly see the styling influence. This little car looks like a half size model of the Chrysler PT cruiser in many respects.
The two Jeeps were different models on the large SUV theme.
It looks like FIAT dealers are about to have a much wider range of cars to sell in the near future. I don't know how the Lancia-badged Chryslers are going to fare in Europe. The new Punto should be the last upgrade to the Grande before replacement. The Panda 3 will surely be a big hit and will stay that way over time. They are already promoting several useful packs of options at €500 each. I really wanted to have a sit inside but the cars were being moved about until they got the showroom arranged the way they wanted it. There was also a 500 Gucci that got shoved around a bit to make room for the Thema.
I'll be back there a week from Monday and I'm sure they will all be ready for Bum-On-Seat tests by then.
