Hey guys ive just had my new backbox fitted its a twin 5" exhaust made by cobra exhausts, i bought it as a universal exhaus (some people dont like that idea) BUT it doesnt sound like a typical chavvy wet fart =D it has a very deeb basse tone to it to get the best from it i took the back box to MIJ in walsall (my local garage) they made all new sleeves and replaced the steel with stainless and made it a cat back system i have a picture what you think?? i will be uploading a video of the sound later on when i can find a suitable cam
cheers

yeah when i bought it i thought it was going to be smaller as it didnt look as big on their site i think it fills out the rear bumper quiet nice though.

looks crap, will slow vehicle down.

Whats happened to your bootlock? and T-cut the red faded bodywork

its actually released some more power 9 bhp to be precise MIJ have a rolling road and because i asked them kindly they measure my power beore and after so it hasnt slowed it down you can realy feel the acceleration
And its suprisingly lightweight lighter than it looks
The boot loack has been removed for delocking and smoothing over next week

Thanks mate, the wires well i was doing some body work the other day and they dropped off and didnt realise that they were hanging until yesterday so i taped them there so the car could have the exhaust fitted, im going to re wire them maybe tomorow to tidy it up
The lights are LED strip lights
cheers

9bhp from that thing! Unbelievable (not i dont belive it, just suprised)

cheers chris
yep 9bhp the mechanic there said its because the design is more like a straight through backbox with minimal restrictions with a good back pressure

9BHP seems a big increase for just a exhaust swap on a car with only 54BHP,nearly 17% improvement.

If thats right I'd say the factory exhaust in very restrictive and mine will be coming off shortly then.

Did you get printouts from the RR session.

9bhp sounds like a ebay add :p:p.

what other mods do you have? like said above the standard exhaust must be very restrictive to let 9more ponies out.

im not a massive fan on the look either, your exhaust has more diameter than nearly 3 of your pistons. too big imo

Ive changed my mind - i dont believe it, think youve been fed a story

Ive been to MIJ and they never had facilities, nor advertised RR opportunities

i do have thr pirint outs and ill upload the charts when i get back home from my girlfriends house

MIJ in walsall do as they built a skyline with over 1000bhp and i was there watching them test it a few years back when my dad was having his exhaust fitted to his corsa

on the note of other mods i have
A custom induction kit made with;samco hosing
CDA carbon enclosed filter
The bob off the older cento,
A 38mm throtle body from a P75 soon to be bored ot a 40mm
Custom 4-2-1 manifold
McCritch ecu chip
Heads skimmed
And soon cat and middle section removal (maybe sports cat or interchangeable pipe fitted)

cheers

It is possible if it's a straight through center system. But if it still uses it's bends before the exit then it's not very likely, but still possible.

Every engine is different, my old 1.2 was only 80bhp with a full stainless system, stainless 4-2-1 manifold, 40mm TB, GSR induction, P75 cam, NGKplugs, and magnecore leads.

I think the very heavy BK Racing alloys were slowing it down mind.

Thanks

he saying the exhaust gave 9 ponies not everything else.

as its not a fully standard car it is possible. but i could see more gains from a modest exhaust :) mainly not looking like a fool.

Glad you are happy with it, not my cup of team at all sorry.

If the baffles had collapsed in you old system it would be possible to see a gain but it would surprise me if it gave that sort of gain on it's own

Forget a sports cat if you are brave enough to run a decat just make up a "MOT cat" from your old one but as you seem to like attracting attention to yourself just watch out for random vehicle checks

aye a 'MOT' cat would be the way forward to you but be sure emissions are low enough, and spot checks will be familiar to you i think :p.

how does it look from the side, like a side rear view? just wondering how much it sticks out.

the graph will be coming soon as ive alredy said im not at home to havr them at hand
the ols exhaust was rotten according to the mechanic with holes and he shook it made rattling noises inside any ideas?

ill have the proof soon then you can make up your mind

the MOT cat sounds a good idea to me :) from the side it doesnt stick out much will post picks with the graph
