Hi, My name is Pete, I live in Cardiff and have just purchased a 2006 model Croma 2.2 with 24000 mile on clock done by one previous owner. I have had a 'check engine' message displayed on dash. I have used multiscan to determine the fault which has resulted in a 'camshaft position sensor' fault. I have been told that the 2.2 engine is not fitted with this sensor. Any ideas please?

Hello Pete

I haven't been here for a while so have only just seen this.

I am looking at a 2.2 Croma that says there's a camshaft prob but the sensor has been replaced and it is still showing.

What was the solution you found?

Neil

Hello Neil,

Is the ignition coil ever replaced? Problem can be inside when there is not placed the correct one.

Hi
I'm away at the moment and have limited access. However it is possible that the cam sensor issue is a synchronisation issue. Either there is a learning procedure required or the timing belt may be out a tooth. Multiecuscan www.multiecuscan.net mayhave a relearn. Download the free version and havea play in simulate mode. Even if you pay for a new timing belt and water pump it could be a cheap enough car to buy. As others have said check tax, fuel and insurance before commiting to the 2.2 as they can be higher than a diesel.
