I'm jumping groups again! Started off in the Stilo section, then moved over to the GP last March. Today I couldn't turn down the deal on a new Bravo in Maranello Red at £12995! Hopefully will be picking it up late this week. Got a good trade in too!

I was in the market for the GP 1.6 Sporting, but there are none available. I've been told by three dealers that as the GP is getting a face lift in January they have finished production of the current model.

Anyway, looking forward to the new car, it will be my first diesel.

Will try and post some pics when I get chance!

two words : REMAP

and REMAP.

One word....

Why?

I got my 2.0 Mjet a month ago now, very happy with it (brand new in maranello red and cost a bit less than the original posters ), not quite as economical as its supposed to be even driving very carefully. Some people dont want to remap their cars, simple as that. I suspect no matter what people say that its going to have an adverse effect on the longevity of your cars components.

Saying that fair play to those cough... cough... boy racers who want to go down that route

On another note mine is due to get Autoglymmed (once I get a dry day to do it) but I am unsure whether its better to go for the usual super resin plus super gloss over the top or the ultra deep shine stuff for dark cars, anyone used any of these on the maranello red?

yup i used the high gloss protection after getting it polished.. and it looked amazing for a good 4 weeks or something.. every time i washed it after that the high gloss protection was still there. i think i need to top it up now though.

iv also got the same car.. i wouldnt mind getting it remapped.. not only for the possible 200bhp but for the fuel economy factor and making the engine run smoother.. but im waitin to see if they can Sort out the problem with my DPF since the engine exhaust runs too cool! a remap may also sort this problem out by increasing the heat in the exhaust..

Dave - do you mind me asking where you got the deal? I've got a friend who is after a new car and is keen on the Bravo. FiatSupaSaver are listing the MJET165 Sport at £14195 but if this can be beaten then I'd like to know where.

Mine (165 sport) was £12400 59 plate registered to me as first owner from Perry's. They wouldnt budge on the price and all I could get thrown in were Bravo mats and a touch up pen. Had to be in Maranello red though, I suspect theres a few of them in the country needing sold.

And how is it?...

Prices certainly have dropped for these, sometimes the 165 Sport is cheaper or same price as the 'lower ranged' models.

Cheers

Very nice!

Was a bit paranoid about filling it with diesel, always had petrol in the past. Clutch is a bit heavy compared to the Punto and first & second are a bit tight when cold, but really love the performance!

Was trying to get into the menu today to switch on the auto door locking, but couldn't get past "Menu" on the display. Will have a look at the manual tomorrow.

Everyone keeps saying "Love the colour!"

One thing that foxed me for a bit with mine was that you have to be stopped to get access to some of the options, obviously to stop you crashing while trying to decide whether you want your doors to auto lock!

One thing, do you think its as fast as the figures suggest? I suspect they were being more than a little generous with the 0-60 and mpg figures.

Well it's the most powerful car I've ever driven so it feels pretty quick to me! The first quarter of the tank did drop pretty quickly, but then I did more miles than I normally would on a regular day.

It's a bit too early to tell really.

I've done about 6k miles now, it's getting quicker probably heading toward the official figures - also in consumption. At first it was nowhere near Fiat's figures on acceleration nor consumption. These engine loosen nicely from around 10k miles.

Cheers

Do you find changing from 1st to 2nd when cold gives a loud crunch, no matter how slow you make the change? Even once warm it still seems to be a vague selection.

i wish i had the 2.0... ive gotta make the 150 do me since i didnt have the pennies or the time to wait :p

still... it will leave chavs for dead... and a few other cars ;)

i get a little bit of crunchiness in the gearbox... but not much tbh... and it doesnt really bother me tbh... you kinda expect it a bit lol.... if you change fast it doesnt crunch at all.. but do it a bit slow and it does lol :D

you can still knock along decently in any gear... and even at 70 it doesnt really need a downshange on the motorway to get going unless you really want to go for it as i do sometimes :p...

ive done 135mph with more to spare legally to

As in gearbox crunching? or that strange 'link noise' you get when pressing the clutch when changing the gears?

Mines the latter - but due to other posts on here I'm not concerned about it nor has it given me any trouble.

Cheers

I found this with my 1.9. After a few thousand miles it loosened up a bit and the MPG started to rise.

Same with mine. First into second is pretty awful when the engine and gearbox is cold. Get's better when its warm but its not perfect. Sounds daft but make sure you push the clutch right the way down and I expect you'll find its smoother. Going up (and down) the rest of the gears is fine. Reverse is pretty awful when the engine is cold too. I've had the gearbox oil changed and its made no difference.

As you said, if you change gear in a spirited way, its nice and smooth. If you wanna take your time, it can be as crunchy as hell (esp first into second).

My third gear clicks all the time. It's impossible not to make it go "CRUNK!" when you slot it in. Doesn't bother me though, I just think of it as character.
