hi guys,
More fix it again noises :bang: i need to pick everyones heads hear, ive had two garages look for the problem and both have said nothing can be found.

ok the problem is very low speed over uneven road and speed bumps im getting loud crunching and knocking sounds on the passenger side. At very high speeds i can feel wheel wobble which is making me very nervious on driving the car as i have two very young children. oldest is 4 and yongest is 2 which is disabled. So you can see why i just dont want to drive the car this way.

I have replaced both droplinks and problem still the same

the drivers side over speed bumps is crunching and squeeking from the spring area again garage says nothing wrong.

also when driving off sometimes at biting point the engine rocks and vibrates though the car but the garage has said its is because of gearbox which ive wrote below

lastly the garage did notice one thing saying my gearbox is worn which is why its crunching in reverse and is slightly stiff selecting gears. Im just wondering if this is a common problem i have had the gearbox oil changed which has made it easier to live with and ive now found a way to select reverse without the crunch by selecting 2nd the straght into reverse. its a 1.4 6 speed.

surely the vibrating at biting point is a engine bracket but im not a expert i can fix most things on a car but diagnausing the problem is a different thing.

hopefully with your help i can get down to the problems and get this car sorted. I tell you what what seems like a good bargain from a independent garage is becoming hell and ive already had the timing belt and water pump replaced at 280 so i might aswell get the car sorted now otherwise i will lose too much.

and to think I told the garage my circumstances and that the car would mainly be used with my kids in the car. they still sold me a death trap.

I really appritiate all the help guys and gals.

I'd say the vibrate is the engine/gear box mount as I have this problem, although it is usually accompanied by a blowing flexi pipe.

Have you had the wishbones checked? Could be the rear bushes?

I would go for wish bone bushes (inner one's) as my drivers one was knackered and caused a clunking noise on bumps in the road

I had the same crunching and knocking on drivers side, everything had just been replaced on that side after an accident but they forgot the top mount, once that was done all was well and the noise has gone

Never felt a CV cause a judder under bite...
Did you mean as you let the clutch bite and pull away? if so - i disagree.

I had the misfortune of replacing the whole drivers side (rhd) Wishbone, drop link, track rod, rack end, drive shaft, hub, shock absorber, had the wishbone replaced 2months before then the car had another accident... and had to do all the above again.

Anyhow, it drove fine for two days - then was going to work one morning and all i could hear was creaking and rubbing (like metal on metal) when going over the tiniest of pot holes and also when steering, even when stationary - it would creak and groan when steering - i was very worried, i have kids and a 25mile round trip every day....

Took it back to the garage that I had just spent around £500 with, they put the car on a drive on lift, lifted it - used this remote thingy and it jiggled the front wheels about - testing that everything was taught... they then checked under the car and checked it all over.... they couldnt see anything wrong - then another mechanic in the same garage said did it have the top mount done with all that other work... guy looked dumb and blank at me and other mechanic, said no... took it for a spin - immediatley said sorry, the top mount needs replacing... - so 5 days later, new top mount arrived and was assembled then put in... noise went away, minus £40 in my wallet for the part too...

Also - in regards to CV joints - they knock when turning - no creaking, depending on how worn or dry they joint is will depend on how loud and how easy it knocks (i.e after turning a tiny bit or on full lock)...

Couple of ways to check your top mounts;

Start car, with it idling, full lock your steering - see if the nose of your car moves a little without juddering or creaking, also - jack the car and grab the spring - then turn your wheel (or get someone to turn it for you) see if it feels smooth, if it does - most likley its ok, if it judders or creaks - replace the top mounts.

Let us know what it is dude!
