Hi, I'm new to the site. I have a 2012 500 sport and love it, but it has started to peel paint on the drivers side bottom runner type lip and the paint looks like it split. I also noticed little paint coming off the hood. It is white. Anyone else having this kind of issue. Don't know if it's important but already has over 42K miles on it. Thanks for any help.

sounds like you drive your fiat like I do (46K myself) poaint chips are done by rocks, go to dealer and ask them for a touch up paint kit and self fix it, but lower lip is rubber sooo you will end up doing it so often...

I've read of some people having paint issues and Fiat has been covering repair under warranty. I'm talking full blown paint peeling here, not just paint chips. The main problem area that I've heard of is under the rear badge and by the license plate lite/hatch release unit.

Might be different warranty terms over there, but back here they have a three year paintwork guarantee so unless you're talking stone damage you should be covered.

I picked up a stone chip on the bonnet (hood) of my Panda about 3 years ago and although there is rust where the stone hit, it's only the size of a match head and hasn't perforated the steel. So that's 3 years of being exposed to rain, snow and rock salt and no corrosion.

I think it is somewhat different here - if a dealer can get away with denying any kind of warranty work, that's exactly what they are going to do. That said, the people that I have talked to have been having their paint issues covered.
